Amala’s design was conceived by Robin Bimantoro of Triloka Architects and Lucia Boey of Lucia Boey Design Studio. In close consultation with the owners, they came up with a concept that imbibed the basic traditions of Balinese architecture with the simple lines of modern design. Together with the well acknowledged experience of Paul Tendean’s construction company, Amala came about.

ACCOMMODATION

The layout of Amala allows two families with children to holiday very comfortably and with enough living areas to afford adequate privacy. Alternatively it is also a suitable get-away for 4–5 couples to “chill out” in the peaceful and harmonizing atmosphere of Sebali.

The main house contains a open dining area and large daybed overlooking the 20m pool and padi fields. It also houses the library, kitchen, a powder room and on the second level the master bedroom. The Master bedroom has a spacious veranda with two daybeds at each end. It is one of two rooms in the estate that has an exposed alang alang roof. Below this are two guest rooms sharing a veranda that overlook the valley. Both rooms are ensuite with partial outdoor showers and baths. On the ground level of the valley house there is a second master bedroom with a indoor bath and shower overlooking the valley as well as a outdoor shower in its own private garden.

Next to this is the TV room with a projector and screen to watch movies or catch the latest news on satellite TV. Alternatively this room is easily converted into another guest room with ensuite bathroom. A veranda fronts these two rooms and allows guests to walk out to the valley garden or have breakfast with the morning sun rising over the valley. A bale sits at the edge of the garden overlooking the valley and rice terraces.

Our cook will be able to prepare both local and western cuisine. Villa guests are free to discuss with the cook the menu for each meal who will then do the marketing and guests need only pay the cost of the food bought.

Nestled amidst lush, verdant plantation, surrounded by panoramic views of rice fields and secluded by coconut trees, the Villa KANTI experience immerses you in a soothing world of relaxation and tranquility that will revive and refresh your spirit as you enjoy the mystique of this spiritual land. Far from the bustle of daily Balinese life, Villa KANTI is situated on the edge of a quiet and small traditional Balinese village, located 10 minutes drive south from the center of Ubud.

From that first moment of entering the Villa KANTI and for the entire duration of your stay, you will be welcomed by the sound of water rippling down the cascades to the bottom of the plantation. Savor this view overlooking the garden from the highest point of the property – it is both magical and unforgettable.

Stroll through the gardens paved with special stepping stones, where water greets you everywhere – tropical ponds with delicate lotus and water lilies, reflecting ponds mirroring coconut and frangipani trees, and still water ponds nurturing goldfish and dragon fish and creating a natural environment for the local flora and fauna. Tropical flowers, shrubs and trees are swept in by the refreshing breeze where you will find a virtual celebration of nature and life. KANTI is the ‘Sanskrit’ word for “light” and the residence is bathed in natural light while protecting the privacy of our residents.

Built in perfect harmony with traditional Balinese architecture and integrating the most contemporary concept of outdoor living, Villa KANTI offers to fulfill the most discerning traveler’s dreams of luxury existence in a tropical country.

Villa KANTI provides a well-balanced blend of air-conditioned comfort and tropical open-air living. With [six –five?] pavilions established on 3200 sq meters of land, it comfortably accommodates up to ten guests who would still be able to lose sight of each other within the boundaries of privacy that the pavilions offer. The focal point of the property is the open-air living and dining pavilion, which drops down onto the 20 x 4 meters lap swimming pool filled with salt-treated water. This infinity pool is complemented by a ‘Hammam’ (steam room) and Jacuzzi just beside it. At the lowest reaches of this abode, overlooking more rice fields, a meditation Bale located over a quietly gurgling stream that marks the edge of the property will wait for you for a few moments of seclusion, meditation, relaxation or for a massage session.

For those moments where you might like to remind yourself of ‘civilization’, there is a fully air-conditioned Media & Entertainment room with a spectacularly large screen – 67 inch satellite TV, home theater with an extensive DVD collection of international movies and music. On the mezzanine level above the open-air living and dining pavilion, a desk provides a PC with internet connection and a printer for your convenience

All corners of the villa are decorated with a plethora of antiques, crafts and artifacts from the Indonesian islands – Java, Borneo, Sulawesi, Lombok, Sumba, the Moluccas, Irian Jaya and Bali itself. These decorative and contemplative pieces, which have been collected over the years by the villa’s owners, who themselves live in the property when it is unoccupied, further enrich the discreetly cultural yet meditative atmosphere of the house

During your stay, you will be serviced by ten staff who will offer you the highest level of personal service while providing absolute discretion and privacy. They will be at your service to ensure your stay is one of total relaxation and comfort

The tropical plants that surround this pavilion give a total privacy. The open bathroom is particularly large with huge rain-head shower located under the tree. State : Bali

Country : Indonesia

Low season rate: USD 400

High Season Rate: USD 450

Peak Season Rate: USD 475

Total Bedroom: 4

This beautiful, very spacious villa on the edge of Sebali, a pretty village just outside Ubud, is a luxurious haven from which to enjoy both the peace and the delights of Bali. The views from the house are of typical rice terraces and, in the distance, spectacular Mt Agung and the dramatic mountains towards the north of the island. We have been careful to be environmentally sensitive – green – with many eco-features including solar power and water heating, and a beautiful garden with organically grown fruit trees.

Villa Sebali is just 15 minute’s drive from the centre of Ubud, the cultural and artistic heart of Bali. All on good roads, half the drive is through typical villages, beautiful rice fields and tropical forest, and half past interesting art galleries, antique and craft shops, and restaurants. Ubud is about one and a quarter hours drive from the airport.

The house is built round three sides of a grassy, flower-ringed courtyard, with the fourth side an infinity pool looking down over a cascade of lotus and water-lily ponds to the orchard. It has four very special bedroom suites and combines the luxury of air-conditioned bedrooms with the delight of open air living. There is a fully equipped kitchen, a library/games room and a table tennis room. We have included many environmentally-friendly features, from the thick, alang-alang roofs which provide wonderful insulation, to solar powered water heating and electricity systems, and natural waste water treatment.

Accommodation

The house is approached by a tree fern-shaded path leading from the front courtyard with space for three or four cars, over an ornamental pool and into the main building.

Dining area : spacious and equipped for up to 12 at table. It is open to the garden at one side and has two steps down to the living area.

Kitchen : fully equipped with large fridge-freezer and permanent chilled drinking water.

Living area : an enormous room opens to the garden with ample seating and many art works.

All the above areas have rich terra-cotta coloured floor tiles, a lovely combination of warmth for the eye and coolness for the room.

Stairs lead from the living area to Sky Bedroom Suite : vast, with a fantastic cathedral ceiling and flower-edged terraces facing all four points of the compass with views to die for!. A large dressing area leads to the bathroom which is partly open air with wash basin, WC, bath, separate shower. One of its four terraces is covered and has seating for relaxing and admiring the garden and view.

From the living area a lobby leads to the south wing with Forest Bedroom Suite : equipped with twin beds which can also be joined to make one king size bed. The dressing area leads to the shower room with wash basin and separate WC. A door leads through to the Library : an enchanting rotunda which can also be reached directly by steps from the garden. Equipped with flat screen TV, books, games and comfortable seating, this room can either be used as a sitting room for the Forest Bedroom, or as a communal room for all guests.

Again from the living area, a short path leads over the lotus pool to the independent Sunset Bedroom Suite : this is another generous room with cathedral ceiling and a queen sized bed. The spacious dressing area leads through to the bathroom with basin, WC, shower and garden. It has its own pretty patio.

Across the courtyard and opposite the library is another independent building Sunrise Bedroom Suite : as the name suggests, this huge room with its magnificent ceiling and king size bed faces east, towards Mt Agung, and has double doors opening onto a raised deck shaded by a flower-festooned pergola. Steps lead down to the pool and courtyard. There is a big dressing area leading through to the biggest bathroom of all which, again, is partly open to the sky and has its own garden. It is equipped with bath, basin, shower and separate WC.

The garden

The garden is lavishly planted with many sweet-smelling trees and flowers. Beside the pool is a pretty balé, a traditional grass-roofed pavilion for shaded relaxation, while below it a path winds through the lotus ponds down to the orchard with its wide range of tropical fruit trees. As these mature, guests will be able to pick their own choice of fruit.

Bali Villa Bukit Naga - Ubud

Villa Bukit Naga is a dream home – a luxurious, contemporary dwelling that marries majestically Balinese form and function. Nestled amid two acres of brightly colored local flora, shady palms and frangipani trees, the complex features five buildings tailored to provide exceptional accommodations.

The interiors of each building have been fashioned carefully by local craftsmen using Balinese hardwoods, marble, and stone, and are furnished throughout with Chinese and Indonesian antiques, giving the property a distinct character and charm. No expense has been spared to offer guests every conceivable comfort and convenience, whilst ensuring that peace and privacy prevail.

Location

Villa Bukit Naga is situated on the outskirts of Banjar Selat – a quiet, traditional Balinese village approximately twenty minutes east of Ubud, the cultural and artistic capital of Bali.

The estate overlooks a lush tropical valley in which the Sang Sang and Ayuverda rivers converge. It has views to the west of the slopes of three of Bali’s majestic volcanoes, and away to the East one can catch glimpses of the holy Mount Agung. Villa Bukit Naga is a perfect base from which to explore the many facets of this fabulous island. Expert guidance is always at hand to offer advice on all aspects of your holiday, from shopping and sightseeing to spiritualism and serenity.

Ubud boasts many fine restaurants (amongst these ’Mozaic’ must rate as one of the finest eating establishments in the southern hemisphere) and also offers fantastic shopping, where jewellery, ceramics, paintings, traditional fabrics, and antique and reproduction Indonesian artifacts can be purchased at very reasonable prices.

To the East, the resort of Candi Dasa is a forty five-minute drive. An hour to the west lie the more popular sands of Legian or Canggu Beach and some very fine beachfront restaurants. For those wishing to explore further inland, the villa is ideally placed for trips to Kintamani and Lake Batur. Additionally the Bali Bird and Reptile Park is a thirty-minute drive away. White water rafting and an Elephant safari are also within easy reach of the villa.

ACCOMMODATION

Villa Bukit Naga sleeps a total of twelve guests in six spacious suites. There is a one-bedroom guest villa, a huge two-bedroom guesthouse, and the three-bedroom main house. All suites are fully air-conditioned and feature private dressing rooms and large marble bathrooms. Imposing hand-made two-meter square Balinese beds, luxurious cotton sheets, and fine denier mosquito nets ensure an excellent nights sleep. All bedrooms and bathrooms have telephone lines for IDD calls and in house calls.

The Main House

The two ground floor bedrooms are identical in size, and both feature indoor as well as outdoor showers set in an ornamental garden. There seems to be endless hanging space in the well-appointed dressing rooms, while individually controlled air conditioning units and powerful ceiling fans keep the rooms pleasantly cool. A double staircase leads up to the master suite, occupying the whole of the first floor of the house. Exquisite touches in the master suite’s interior design make it a very special place to stay. The bathroom and dressing room are very spacious, with a comfortable office and book library adjacent. There is direct access from the suite to a large open-air cocktail lounge and bar area with ample seating on Balinese sofas. Whether it be for sun-downers, snoozing, or a peaceful breakfast, this comfortable area affords spectacular views over the valley below.

One Bedroom Villa

This delightful suite is set a few meters from the Main House and sleeps two people in privacy and comfort. A large balcony looks over the lush jungle of the river valley below where guests often take breakfast, afternoon tea, or just a nap on the comfortable day bed. The dressing room and bathroom are tiled in green Javanese marble and lead out to a wonderful secluded garden with a ’jungle Jacuzzi’. High walls surround the villa, making this suite the ultimate retreat for those seeking privacy and peace.

Two Bedroom Villa

Ideal for a family of four or two couples sharing, this two-story private house is the ultimate in self-contained luxury. The ground floor features the huge master suite, a marble floored living room, private bar and gymnasium. A hardwood spiral staircase leads up to the second bedroom, with a large balcony offering stunning views over the river valley and to the mountains beyond. This villa also features a private terrace and infinity plunge pool set in beautiful gardens.

Other Features

A fully equipped kitchen and resident chef ensure that our guests tastes and dietary requirements can be catered for. Menus feature Balinese and Western cuisine and meals can be served inside or outside the main house, or in the privacy of your villa. Bukit Naga boasts an extensive DVD and music library with over three hundred and fifty films and more than five hundred music CDs. Located in the Main House, the den has comfortable sofas, as well as the latest television, digital video and audio equipment.

Villa Vajra (3 BR)

10 08 2009

Area : Ubud

State : Bali

Country : Indonesia

Low season rate: USD 550

High Season Rate: USD 625

Peak Season Rate: USD 695

Total Bedroom: 3

Bali Villa Vajra - Ubud]

Villa Vajra was designed by the internationally acclaimed architect, Guy Morgan, this modern, spacious villa sleeps up to seven guests and offers the ultimate in luxurious accommodation within a totally private and exclusive, close-to-nature setting. The property and gardens are landscaped into the slopes of the steep valley, and the approach, via a raised wooden walkway through undisturbed rice fields, gives no clue to the remarkable design of the villa, or the breathtaking views of the jungle and river gorge.

Constructed with high quality local materials including ’alang alang’ thatch, Palimanan stone and teak wood; the property combines the very best of Balinese architectural elements with contemporary flair, elegant finishes and modern amenities. The villa presents a blend of outdoor living and air-conditioned comfort.

Villa Vajra is named after the quintessential symbol of Vajrayana Buddhism, a five-pronged ritual object often employed in conjunction with a bell. The Vajra is represented by a carving in a freestanding stone at the main entrance.

Every room and corner of the property has the effect of producing gasps of surprise and delight as guests view it for the first time. The villa is comprised of two buildings, linked on the upper level by a lotus pond and pergola. A serene Buddha statue stands within the lotus pond and white thunbergia cascades over the pergola-covered walkway leading to the Master Bedroom and Studio. The Master Bedroom is characterized by elegant furniture, teak floors, and glass on three sides to maximize the awesome views of the jungle and river valley. Sliding glass doors open on to a timber balcony, fringed by a food forest of fruit trees; the built-in bench seat is an ideal place to absorb the natural surroundings and listen to the ceaseless gurgle of the Ooz River as it coils its way through the deep gorge below. The en-suite garden bathroom is dominated by a large black terrazzo bathtub, creating a strong contrast against the white Palimanan stone floor. A black terrazzo wash stand supports a stylish chrome washbowl, and the shower is flanked by shelves and cabinets. Everything possible has been considered for the comfort of the guests; t he luxurious open-air bathtub is sheltered by a thatched canopy, and privacy is maintained by a wall. Wooden shutters, like hatches within the wall, can be opened to reveal a view of the ric e fields, and a larger hatch beside the bathtub offers the delightful alternative vista of the jungle. Tree ferns, birds’ nest ferns, and stepping stones across a star-grass lawn complete the natural decor of this charming garden bathroom.

Colourful local artwork adorns the walls of a passage way leading to the Studio on the same floor. Situated on the western side of the villa, this room boasts a panoramic view of the ric e fields, and features a pitched roof, a cream terrazzo floor and more built-in cupboards and storage space. The Studio doubles as an additional bedroom and includes an en-suite toilet and shower room with a marble floor and black terrazzo washstand.

The adjacent building, across the lotus pond, holds the Study, with a flat screen satellite TV, DVD player and a quality sound system for the entertainment of the guests. This room also doubles as an additional bedroom with an en-suite shower room and a stone terrace that appears to almost float within the gently swaying fields of ric e. Cushioned seating is built into the low wall encircling the terrace, thereby creating a comfortable place for relaxing with a book while enjoying a coffee or a cocktail at sunset. A cathedral window in the Study room overlooks the main living and dining area on the lower level, which is accessed by an external cantilevered staircase.

It is upon reaching this lower level that visitors will be able to fully appreciate the unique design of the villa. The gargantuan, 12 x 8 metre, living and dining pavilion extends the full height of the building and features a marble floor underneath a vaulted roof supported by coconut-wood pillars on stone plinths. Furnished with rattan chairs and sofas, pendulous steel globe lanterns and Buddhist welcome statues, this pavilion represents open living at its very best, and is a fantastic venue for parties, receptions and functions. A small aviary is situated to one side, and a large hatch links the dining area with the fully equipped kitchen, where the cook will prepare a range of delicious Indonesian and Western meals . Next door is a toilet and a shower, and the laundry and staff quarters are situated at the back. The adjoining semi-circular timber deck overhangs the lush river valley and provides an alternative romantic dining area. Living jackfruit trees grow through holes that have been cut in the floor of the deck, creating a solution that blends style with nature without threatening the environment. A further example of environmental conservation is the water recycling system that has been devised for the 8 x 3 metre infinity edge swimming pool, the outdoor Jacuzzi, and the graceful cascade flowing down from the lotus pond above. Another Buddha statue rests within an alcove behind the cascade.

The Guest Room is situated at pool level, within the building that houses the Master Bedroom and Studio. Furnished with a dreamy four-poster bed, the Guest Room features a Palimanan stone floor, windows with sliding doors facing the valley, a dressing room, and a garden bathroom with a black terrazzo tub, shower and toilet.

Rustic stone steps lead down from the swimming pool to the lowest level, past an outdoor shower, a bed of beautiful white peace lilies, and a small lotus pond contained within a stone pot. At this level there is an open terrace overlooking a grassy meadow within the valley. Another wooden deck juts out to one side and a narrow path leads down to the river past a small temple and a coconut grove. On one side is a secret sanctuary, a traditional open pavilion, known as a ’bale’, with a thatched roof and a raised teak floor scattered with cushions for relaxing. Even here, guests can enjoy music from the sound system, which boasts eight speakers directed towards every corner of the property. On the other side, a fully equipped gym provides the facility to maintain a daily fitness routine while appreciating the wonderful views.

The Master Bedroom, Guest Room, Studio and Study each feature individually controlled air-conditioning units and powerful ceiling fans to keep the rooms pleasantly cool. There are .telephone lines for IDD calls and in-house calls in each room, and also safety deposit boxes. At night the villa takes on a different persona, with cleverly concealed lighting. Guests will appreciate the fresh cool air, and will be serenaded by a chorus of frog song to the accompaniment of ritual music from the village temples and the constant murmur of the river.

There is a barbeque terrace at the front of the villa beside the rice fields and parking space for up to six vehicles. Due to the steep hillside elevation, the villa is not recommended for disabled people or young children.

Location

Villa Vajra is situated in the quiet traditional village of Sebali in the district of Kaliki, an hour and fifteen minutes’ drive from Ngurah Rai international airport, and about ten minutes’ drive from the cultural town of Ubud. This remarkable town is Bali’s centre for fine arts, dance and music, and the surrounding villages are home to Bali’s most accomplished painters, dancers, musicians and carvers. It is located 300 metres above sea level in the foothills of the central mountain range; this gives it a fresher, more pleasant climate than the southern coastal regions. The numerous art galleries in Ubud display traditional and modern work; the museums showcase the island’s ric h history, and the shops and the market stalls sell handicrafts, jewellery, woodcarvings, textiles, paintings and antiques. There are many, well-presented, cultural performances staged in the town, in particular the Hindu epic, the Ramayana; also the Kecak Dance, the Fire Dance, the Monkey Dance and the Legong Dance. The countryside around Ubud is particularly beautiful, with an abundance of trails offering memorable walks through the peaceful rice fields. The location is convenient for tours all over the island and is only a forty-minute drive from the coast.

Nefatari Villas (2 BR)

Total Bedroom: 2

Bali Villa Nefatari - Ubud

Located amidst verdant rice paddies, NEFATARI consists of five villas, three single units and two family villas. The villas are constructed in traditional Balinese design using indigenous materials such as stone, teakwood, camphor wood and bamboo. Each villa is finished with a naturally insulating, fragrant Balinese ’’alang-alang’’ roof.

Nefatari is approximately a 50-minutes drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport and is located in the upland area of Ubud, know worldwide as Bali’s artistic and cultural heart. It is just a 10-minute drive or 20-minute walk from Nefatari to central Ubud.

There is much for a visitor to see and do in Ubud, whether it be visiting one of Ubud’s many art galleries, artist’s studios, museums, boutiques, or sampling delicious fare in one of the many restaurants that abound here in Ubud. The visitor to Ubud may attend traditional dance performances that are held each and every day or perhaps explore the myriad Hindu temples in the area. One can often find traditional festivals being held in the outlying villages or see a religious procession winding its way along the narrow streets. A stroll through the surrounding age-old ’sawahs’, or rice paddies, is an adventure in discovery as is a leisurely walk through the nearby villages of Singakerta and Penestanan, with their many art shops and studios and the ever-friendly residents.

Our motto, ’’Balinese tradition with modern touch’’, will most certainly be what guests will experience while staying at NEFATARI.

All five villas are tastefully appointed with custom-made teak furnishings created by Balinese and Javanese craftsmen. The interiors are decorated with Balinese artwork and hand-loomed wall hangings of traditional design. All villas boast their own swimming pool, terrace and private walled garden.
